			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The ceremony was introduced by Prof. F. Kirschstein, President of the United International Business Schools organization, who was supported in his function by Prof. Dr. H. Dijkmans, Dean of Academic Affairs. This year’s ceremony of the International University of Belgium was held at the Royal Windsor Hotel, near the Brussels Grand Place on July 2, 2010.</p>
<p>Graduating students were presented their academic transcript, university certificate and final diploma. Imminent graduates were presented an updated overview of their academic progress.</p>
<p>Graduation speeches were delivered by undergraduate and graduate students of the Antwerp and Brussels campuses, Lorenzo Libanori (Italy) and John Douglas (USA).</p>
<p>Special awards for outstanding academic achievement were presented to Lorenzo Libanori (Italy), Bernhard Leiner (Austria) and Henrik Persson (Denmark). Finally, an award was presented to Prof. Arthur Ross for his commendable academic contributions in the field of business communication.</p>
<p>The ceremony was followed by a reception and dinner buffet, organized for the 2010 graduating class, their family and their friends.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Graduate students from the Brussels campus were welcomed for a short seminar organized by the Counselor and Senior Trade Commissioner of the Canadian Embassy in Brussels, Ms. Andrée Vary. The Commissioner spoke about the economic relations between Canada and the European Union, the importance of close cooperation and development between industry and universities, investment opportunities in Canada, and Canadian representation in Europe. Also covered was the current round of negotiations between Canada and the European Union about the development of a free trade agreement. The seminar was organized as part of the Doing Business with Europe course, a graduate specialization course in the European Management program. The course was taught by Mr. Ian Goldring who has been with the school for several years now. Mr. Goldring has a Master in Management and Urban Studies and is actively working in Brussels on various EU-related projects.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Prof. Dr. Alea Farichild became European Masters weightlifting champion in the 45/49, 69kg category last Wednesday May 27 in Togliatti, Russia. Together with receiving the gold medal, she also set a new Belgian record of 44kg in the snatch and 59kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 103kg. Last June 6, Dr. Fairchild also became Belgian Senior Champion for the fifth year in a row.</p>
<p>The students and faculty of the International University of Belgium would like to congratulate her with the achievement and wish her the best of luck for her next two goals, the Belgian Masters Championships and the World Masters Games in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Fairchild teaches courses such as Innovation and Entrepeneurship, and is also a member of the Board of Advisors of the school&#8217;s Academic Council.</p>
